Rice Stadium is one of the best buildings on the Rice University campus. According to architectural historian Stephen Fox, it `is one of Houston`s most historically signi?cant engineering landmarks and a mid-twentieth century architectural landmark.` However, Rice University is considering lopping off the upper tiers of seating and adding a new ?eld house to one side according to architect Michael Graves` recent master plan for future development. The reasons for demolition cited are years of deferred maintenance and a decrease in spectators at Rice footfall games.
