12807 Memorial

The Architecture of Memorial Bend

Architect:

William Norman Floyd
Year Built:1957
Original Owner:Unknown
Notable Past Residents:N/A
Publication:Houston Chronicle, November 3, 1957
Comments:Promoted by the builder as "The Shoji". The original version of this home, possibly even this one, was named a McCall Magazine "Congress for Better Living" Home. A similar home is located in nearby Memorial Plaza as well as at 12806 Figaro.
Architectural Comments:Once again, Floyd used windows that stressed privacy from the street. Lower sliding glass windows are topped by clerestory windows that accentuate the low pitched roof and the pier and beam construction.
