On February 13, 2018 the Harris County Commissioners Court approved the proposed renovations to the Astrodome. The action allows for the final design and construction of the $105 million project to repurpose the Eighth Wonder of the World to new event space and parking.
Parking revenue, hotel occupancy taxes and county general funds will cover the cost. The Astrodome Conservancy and the county will host a “Domecoming” on April 9, 2018 to give people a peek inside the stadium prior to the start of construction.
