This house for attorney, J. Edwin Smith won an award of merit from the American Institute of Architects, Houston in 1949 for the young architect, Ralph Anderson, Jr. before he became a partner at Wilson, Morris and Crain in 1949. Of note are the contrasting pitched and flat roofs and the long bands of horizontal windows set into a wall made of industrial siding.
