This mid-century church in the Third Ward near Texas Southern University was designed by Lawrence A. Collins, a Howard University trained architect. In addition to being one of the early practicing African-American architects in Houston, Collins was a professor at Prairie View A&M University. Collins was an architectural partner with James S. Walker and worked with William R. Jenkins in the 1980s.
