Join Houston Mod for an exclusive guided tour of this expressive, cast – concrete gem designed by Fitch & Holcomb Architects ca. 1965, and stay for a full evening of festivities sponsored by the City of Pasadena.
Charles Holcomb graduated from Texas A&M in 1957. The Pavilion and the design layout for the park, including the Olympic size pool, were part of his 5th year project. He approached the City of Pasadena and offered the plan for free. It was enthusiastically received, although several years passed before funding was complete and construction did not begin until Holcomb was a newly-registered architect.
The event is part of Docomomo US Tour Day, an annual celebration of modern architecture and design where participants across the country simultaneously tour local modern sites. Tour Day includes over 50 tours in over 30 cities hosted by Docomomo US regional chapters and friends organizations. This year’s thematic focus is Travel & Leisure.
