This home was one of the original 6 model homes built in Glenbrook Valley and was one of the 1954 “Parade of Homes” models as well. Built by Fred McManis, the homes “ultra modern design” was described in the Houston Chronicle in 1954 as follows;

“An extreme modern design home, constructed by McManis, is on parade at 7919 Glenview. Priced at $35,000, it is air-conditioned, has two bedrooms, two and half baths, a sunken living room, combination outdoor patio, bar and carport, and all walnut kitchen. It is furnished by Sembera and Itasca Weavers Guild.”

The home also featured parquet finished “flip up” tables for serving along the half wall between the dining area and sunken living room and an intercom system. The lighting in the home could also be controlled by a panel in the master bedroom. The current owners of the house were given a 2013 Good Brick Award by Preservation Houston for restoring it.
