Houston Mod spotlights the work of architect William Floyd who likely designed all three of this month’s featured houses – one home will be open, two are featured for drive by only. Floyd designed hundreds of modern houses in scores of neighborhoods mainly in west and southwest Houston, the greatest concentration being in the area of the Memorial Bend neighborhood.
The flat roof seems to float above this imaginatively designed 1956 vintage modern house due to the windows incorporated between the beams extending flush to the ceiling plane. A handsomely articulated brick street elevation provides privacy while walls of glass bring in the outside forested views from the back. The house is situated near excellent schools, dining, shopping and transportation opportunities.
