The Rice Museum was designed and built in a matter of months on what was then the far edge of Rice University`s campus to house the monumental Museum of Modern Art exhibition ‘The Machine`, in March 1969. Built as temporary structures intended for eventual demolition, they were used by Rice students for 40 years.
Predicting their eventual demolition, Michael Graves` Master Plan for Rice University of 2002 showed a blank space where the buildings stood.
Demolished 2014 and 2021.
