Worden House

695 Rocky River Road

The deft use of pink brick, irregularly sized vertical wood siding and elaborate entry doors (in this case clad in copper with evenly spaced studs as a decorative feature) was typical of designer Ralph Anderson’s residential work in the mid 1950s. The appearance of this house was similar to his design for the Marshall House of 1955 at 1 Pine Hill lane that was destroyed in December 2004.

Stephen Fox: `One of the very few exceptions to the prevailing stodginess (in Tanglewood) is this flat-roofed contempory style house designed by Ralph A. Anderson Jr., with its eroded corner bay held firmly in place by the fascia`s ruling horizontal` in the Houston Architectural Guide. Tanglewood now has very few moderns left. The house was demolished in 2007.
